Are You Constantly Chasing Happiness In Life?
The question at hand is how do you define happiness? Do you look for happiness in materialistic things? Things like more money, more vacations, a better job. Most people spend their lives chasing happiness. What they don’t realise is that more often than not, happiness is right under our noses. Ironically, searching for happiness makes you unhappy, it is only when you stop and reflect, you know what being happy truly is.
Happiness is like sand, you cannot hold on to it forever, and the best part is – YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO!
3 Reasons Why Searching For Happiness Makes You Unhappy
Today’s new is tomorrow’s old:
Sometimes we think that buying something will make us happy. What we don’t take into consideration, is that today’s new is tomorrow’s old. Things may come and go and change. But happiness stays the same.
Humans always tend to glamorize things they don’t have. In order to convince themselves to attain that product, we always look at its positives. But as soon as we have it with us, we tend to look at the negatives. This is a prime example of how searching for happiness makes you unhappy.
A misconception that we can control tomorrow:
Humans by nature are arrogant and believe that they can control most things in life. This is the exact opposite of the truth. Life is completely unpredictable and we have no control over it. We have no say in how the future is going to unfold. As the saying goes “the best-laid plans of men and mice”.
We should learn to live in the present and be happy irrespective of any gains. Don’t waste your happiness and time on thinking about the happiness you may or may not attain tomorrow. Be happy with what you have today. Be content and be humble. Stop chasing it and it will come to you on its own.
